Jackie S. Jones, D.M.D.

Dr Jones was born and raised in the Idaho panhandle. After attending the University of Idaho at Moscow, she entered the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center in Portland, completed training as a Registered Dental Hygienist, then graduated in 1979 with a Doctorate of Medical Dentistry. She established her dental practice in Missoula that same year. As an aside, each dental school determines what degree to award, a DMD or a DDS (Doctor of Dental Science). The two degrees are equivalent.

Dr Jones has long been a bicycle traveler and tour group leader and is a regular bicycle commuter for 8 months of each year. She is a 25-year member and past president of the Missoula Chapter of Soroptimist International, a service organization supporting women’s and children’s causes, and actively supports University of Montana athletic, fine arts and academic programs.

Her participation in local, state and national dental societies includes officer and committee positions. She maintains current membership in the American Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry and regularly attends dental society meetings and continuing education courses.

She enjoys camping and bird watching, cooking, and creating stained glass windows.

DOES DR JONES REALLY RIDE THAT BICYCLE IN OUR LOGO?

Not that exact one. The logo graphic was drawn of her first commuting bicycle, now retired. Her current model, a Specialized mountain bike fitted with street tires and racks for gear and briefcase gets her back and forth some 5 miles each way from home to office between March and November, and provides exercise and valuable warm up and decompression time. It is the same brand and color as the original, however. Both bikes elicit reactions from bicycle shop mechanics like “Wow, that bike is a classic!”

Our trained, experienced dental assistants are Timmye and Jennifer, who also doubles as Clinical Manager and Treatment Coordinator. She was named by the Montana Dental Association as Outstanding Dental Assistant for 2007. Karen is our Registered Dental Hygienist, recently recognized as Montana's Dental Hygienist of the Year. Both she and Jennifer have been with Dr Jones for over 10 years. You'll usually hear Shannan's voice on the phone when scheduling appointments, and see her smiling face at our front desk.
